CRE, E. Magalene McClarrin
Magalene has been a Presbyterian since the age of nine, which ushered in an enduring love for the Lord and for being part of a faith tradition that honors diversity and inclusion.
A former English teacher, Assistant Principal, and Director of English, grades 3-12, Magalene is the Church Business Administrator for Memorial Presbyterian Church in Roosevelt, New York, and as a CRE currently serves as Extended Pulpit Supply for the Presbyterian Church in Garden City, Garden City, New York. She has been active on various levels in the PCUSA, serving as a Commissioner to the General Assembly in Portland, Oregon in 2016, Moderator of the Presbytery of Long Island in 2021, a member of the Presbytery's Foundations and Horizons Task Force, a member of BREAD, Bringing Racial Equity and Diversity Team; she served as a member of the Executive Presbyter Search Committee for Long Island. Serving as the CoM moderator for several years, she is now a member of the Synod of the Northeast's Discernment Team and a member of the Committee to Write a New Confession for the PCUSA.
Magalene has a MA in English Literature, an MBA in Business Administration, a Professional Diploma for School Administration and 90 post graduate credits towards a doctorate in Educational Administration from Teachers College, Columbia. She also holds a certificate in Christian Leadership from Dubuque University for Commissioned Ruling Elders, as well as a certificate from Princeton University Theological Seminary on theology.
More than anything, she is humbled and joyful that God chose to pick her up and bring her back to Himself and that He has honored her prayer to feed her thirst for His word.
